The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides for public access to records maintained by the Office of the Federal Coordinator for Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Projects (OFC).  An individual can submit a FOIA request for records held or believed to be held by the OFC.

FOIA requires Agencies to provide records unless exempt from disclosure as defined in the Act.

Guidelines for Submitting a FOIA Request to the OFC:

Our ability to respond expeditiously and responsively to any FOIA request is dependent upon the clarity the request.  All requests must be in writing and must include the requester's name, organization (if any), address, phone number, and email address.  Describe requested records in enough detail to enable an expeditious response.  Additionally, please describe the desired format for the released records (i.e. mailed in hard copy or by email).  The OFC will make every effort to provide the response in the requested format.

Generally, federal agencies are not required to create records in order to respond to FOIA requests; nor are agencies required to answer questions posed as FOIA requests.  Under the Act, FOIA pertains only to existing records and not to future records, or records not already created.

The OFC will respond to FOIA requests within the statutory deadlines.  The OFC does not accept telephonic or oral requests for information.  Please submit written requests to the OFC by mail, electronic mail, or fax.
