The United States and Canadian governments work closely on various issues related to the Alaska North Slope natural gas pipeline project. The Alaska Pipeline Project (a partnership between TransCanada and ExxonMobil) is the applicant in the United States while the Foothills Pipe Lines Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of TransCanada) is the applicant in Canada. The Foothills Pipe Lines Ltd. works with the Northern Pipeline Agency staff to coordinate the permit, construction and operation of the project in Canada. The Northern Pipeline Agency released the following documents to explain some of the project history and process in Canada.
